HERITAGE EQ REPAIR & STRENGTHENING 

The Old Stone House

The Old Stone House Cracroft, Christchurch was originally built in 1870 by John Cracroft. It is currently listed as a Historic Place category 2 by Heritage NZ.


Due to the EQ events of 2010-2011 the stone and slate clad building was badly damaged and required extensive repair and strengthening work. This was part of the Christchurch City Council heritage building portfolio one of over forty structures.

Ōpuke Hot Pools & Spa

Set on several acres of land only a few hundred metres from the centre of Methven is the award winning Opuke Hot Pools and Spa.

The complex consists of a main building including reception changing facilities, spa, bar and restaurant. This leads to a family pool area with a wild river, jump pool and pools which run through caves. There is a separate adult pool facility with swim up access to a bar and a lazy river which runs through more caves. This has now become one of the leading attractions within the South Island.

Force Entertainment Centre 

The Force Entertainment centre was constructed in Auckland on Queen Street and the destination for Cinema goers. It consisted of serval large screen format Cinemas with public areas and a food court on the ground floor which contained six outlets.

The company was employed by the operators of four of those outlets to Design and Build the outlets to meet the requirements of the centre’s owners.

RETAIL & HOSPITALITY

Pacific Catch – The Auckland Fish Market

The company was commissioned by a South Island fishing company to complete the design and the project management of their Auckland flagship operations. This included a large retail presence within the fish market and to have a back of house processing centre that could also supply product to four other locations within the city.


The design was not only required to be extremely practical and functional to meet the requirements of being a food processing centre but required the finesse and imagery of a high-end retail outlet.

HERITAGE

The Rose Historic Chapel

This Category 2 listed historic structure owned by Christchurch City Council was severely damaged by the 2010 / 2011 EQ events. The building was secured and temporary works were undertaken to ensure no further structural damage would occur.


A team of engineers and architects were formed and the design was agreed by all stakeholders for the repair and strengthening of the building. This started with the deconstruction of the front brick Atrium wall and installation and under pinning of the foundations to the Nave and Chancel with excavations 1200 mm deep at three points across the width of the building.
