HERITAGE EXPERIENCE

With over thirty-five years’ experience in the construction industry, we have successfully completed the Heritage projects outlined below and in turn gained an immense amount of experience and knowledge within this sector.
After the EQ events of 2011 Richard worked for a PMO that delivered the Christchurch City Councils strengthening and repair program which undertook more than forty repairs over a four-year period.
Richard collaborated with engineers and heritage architects to effectively deliver these projects using engineered solutions to meet the confines of budget and program.

Old Municipal Chambers
Category 1 listed building built in 1887 the building was severely damaged in the EQ events and has been stabilised and waterproof awaiting reconstruction and restoration work.

Grafton and Metcalfe Bond Stores
The Rocks Sydney, Built 1881–1912. Strengthening and refurbishment of the buildings and the conversion of the spaces to office accommodation for Polygram Records, Lion Nathan and Walt Disney.

Northern Steam Ship Company Building
Northern Steam Ship Company Building Britomart Auckland. Built in 1899. Strengthening and restoration with a new Interior fitout of the premises for office and retail accommodation.

The Rose Historic Chapel
Colombo Street Christchurch, Category 2 listed building built in 1910. Winner of the 2019 Master Builders Gold Award and overall National Category Commercial Heritage and 2019 NZIA Heritage Award.

The Gaiety Theatre
105 Rue Jolie. Built in 1879. EQ repair and strengthening of the building has been completed working with CCC and the Friends of the Theatre Trust.

Stoddart Cottage
18 Purau Avenue Diamond Harbour. Category 1 Heritage Building built in 1856. Originally a kitset cottage imported from Australia. Its has been extensively strengthened

Nurses Memorial Chapel
Riccarton Avenue Christchurch. Built in 1927. Category 1 listed building which has been extensively repaired and strengthened. This work has been completed with consultation with CCC, CDHB, Heritage NZ and the Chapel Trust.

Old Stone House Cracroft
30 Shalamar Drive Christchurch. 1870 Category 1 listed building. Winner of the 2019 Master Builders Gold Award. Strengthened and re-built the building now operates as a wedding venue and function centre.

Former Post Office
78 Rue Lavaud Akaroa. Built in 1915, the building was EQ repaired and strengthened and now serves as the CCC Service Centre for the Banks Peninsula visitors and community.

The Customs House
Rue Balguerie Akaroa. Built in 1858. Category 1 listed building which is part of the Akaroa Museum. Repaired and now open to the public as part of the museum displays.

Risingholme Homestead
22 Cholmondeley Avenue Christchurch. Category 1 listed building built in 1864. A fire on the first floor, meant a complete re-build and it was also EQ repaired and strengthened and is now back being used as a community centre.

The Railway Goods Shed
Little River Canterbury. Historic Place Category 2 built in 1886. This all-timber structure has recently been strengthened using an engineered solution of cantilevered screw piles to form the new foundations.

Godley Head Gun Emplacements
Christchurch. Built in 1939 the coastal defense battery is ranked as one of the top ten NZ coastal defense heritage sites. Working closely with the Department of Conservation It has recently been strengthened to over 65%NBS

Carnegie Library Building
Built in the center of Hokitika township the Category 1 listed building was opened in 1910. Completed recent works has lifted the strength of the building to one hundred %NBS. The building will be used as the Hokitika Museum.

Langlois-Eteveneaux House
Akaroa, Canterbury built in 1841 and is one of the oldest buildings in the region. The building was strengthened and refurbished back to its original condition. It is a static display within the Akaroa Museum precinct.
